Abstract

Air to water heat pumps account by more than 70% for the main share of HP-systems of the European HP market. Retrofitting applications in particular show a very high potential for the A/W heat pump technology. Innovative components will pave the way for the next generation heat pumps. In case of the evaporator, low refrigerant charge is introduced by using bionic distributors and evaporator icing is studied on several heat exchanger designs by using advanced experimental and numerical methods.
