The main goal of the presented study is thedevelopment of industrial hemp fibre reinforced biocomposites.
Matrix materials used are as follows: thermoplastic starch based
systems, blends of biodegradable polymers – poly(vinylalcohol)
and microbially produced polyester polyhydroxybutyrate. The
correlation among hemp fibre content, matrix composition and
characteristics of biocomposites has been demonstrated.
Hydrophobic finishing of reinforced biocomposites with Rucostar
DDD diminishes moisture absorption. Biodegradation of
biocomposites has been found to be composition dependent.
